Volunteer to Be a Neighbor
How it Works
First, we match you with a family in need of support and friendship. Then we train you, introduce you to the family, and provide support for six months to help everyone feel comfortable. After six months, you graduate from our Neighbors program and continue your friendship on your and your family’s own terms.
Please note: Our team matches families and volunteers in Colorado. Want to make sure your local families get the support they need? People like you brought the Neighbors program to California, Texas, Illinois, and Arkansas. We’d love to serve families near you! Learn more about bringing the Neighbors program to your community with our DIY program, or contact us about our full-service contracts.
The Commitment
Our volunteers commit to six months of giving support to a family with monthly meals. On average $10/month per member of the family.
Next Steps
- Fill out our application.
- Complete a background check. If other adults (age 18+) in the home plan to join you in your match, they will also need to complete a background check. If you have children joining under the age of 18, you must sign a release form.
- Complete a self-paced training session in our online portal.
- Families Together will provide guidance and support for the first six months of the match, then you will graduate from our program and continue building your long-term friendship, together.
COVID-19 Precautions
We train our Neighbors to deliver monthly meals in a way that is safe and comfortable for families (porch drop-offs, meeting outside, “no contact” deliveries).
