Your Gift Donations Go a Long Way!
Operation Santa is a longstanding program at Tennyson Center dedicated to bringing the magic of Christmas to the more than 250 children and families we serve. We rely exclusively on gift donations from businesses, donors, and our local community.
You are making a difference. Last year, one child said, “I’ve never had a Christmas like this before!” and lit up when she got to take home a brand-new bike. She even offered to share it with her little sister! Another family who celebrated the holidays together for the first time cried because of the generosity of donors like you.
There are four primary ways you can get involved:
- Donate NEW toys/gifts or host a gift drive. Gifts are dropped off at Tennyson Center and used for Santa’s Shop, a one-day event in December when kids and families from all of our programs get to “shop” for their families or people who matter to them. This empowers participants to make decisions that best fit their families’ needs and gives them the wonderful feeling of shopping for each other. Take a look at a list of Needed Gift Items here. Current largest need: gifts for adult caregivers!
- Host a “Tennyson Tree” and have your office adopt kids’ wishes. These gifts are given to kids who reside on campus and who are in our day-treatment program, and feature their specific gift requests. Thanks to your generosity, this giving option has been fulfilled.
- Enhance our programming by purchasing items on our Amazon Wish List. These items are used in our classrooms and cottages every day. Items range from curricular book sets to toys and towels. You can also support us year-round every time you shop on Amazon! Go to smile.amazon.com, select Tennyson Center as your favorite charitable organization, and Amazon will donate .5% of the price of eligible purchases. Every little bit helps! - Purchase or collect gift cards for kids and families for Christmas and throughout the year. Examples: restaurants, gas cards, Walmart/Target, or experiences such as the zoo, museums, movies, and more. High priority at this time.
