Operation Santa

You can be one of "Santa's helpers" by participating in Operation Santa. This is so important to our clients and their families. Last year, after opening his gifts, one of the children said, "Wow, Santa must really like me to give me all of these great gifts.” Another family who was going to be celebrating the holidays together for the first time in a home cried because of the generosity of donors like you.

You are making a difference. This could not happen without generous and kind businesses and people like you!

There are several ways to get involved!

Residential Children

The children who are currently in our care 24-hours a day, 7-days a week will each receive three gifts plus a stocking on Christmas morning. A complete child's list will contain all three toys in the price range of $30, $50 and $70 for a maximum list value of $150 per child. Children's lists will be ready for distribution no later than November 1 and will continue until all children have been assigned. We are requesting that the gifts be delivered no later than December 1, 2017. The goal is to allow plenty of time to organize and wrap the gifts for the children! We know that we will have a few last-minute children who move into our facilities between then and December 25, and will assign those kids to donors as they arrive.

Day Treatment

These children will be attending a Holiday party in their classrooms - with a visit from "Santa" on the Friday before they go on Winter Break. Each child gets to ask for one gift with a maximum value of $50. Children's lists will be ready for distribution no later than November 1 and will continue until all children have been assigned. We are requesting that gifts be delivered no later than December 10, 2017.

Adopt a Family

Our clinicians choose from the families in our care who are in the most need of support during this time of year. You will receive a cover letter describing the family, the children's gift request and the family's needed items. This year, each child in the family is selecting 3 gifts they would like for a total of about $150/child. Then the adults may list up to $200 in family gifts or potential needs they may have.

Family lists will be ready for distribution mid-October and will continue until all families have been adopted. This year we are asking that family gifts be delivered by November 28, 2017. We know that we will be receiving some last-minute families after that time, but we would like to give our clinicians ample time to deliver the gifts to their families!

Adopt a Cottage, Classroom or Program

This is our area of greatest need. These items vary greatly. They are items that have been requested by the teachers, therapists, cottage staff, recreation coordinators, etc. and are desperately needed to continue providing quality care for our children. These are items that are not covered in the budget, but would assure that Tennyson is providing the BEST teaching and care for the children we serve. Items can range in price from $1 to upwards of $1,000+ per item. These lists are HIGHLY customizable to your desired giving level. This is a great project to do as an office during the month of December. We request these items be delivered no later than January 12, 2018. This is Operation Santa 360!

Drives

A great idea to do within your office, with a group of friends, or at church. Sign up to host a toy drive, or a supply drive for the classrooms, or a gift card drive. Gift Cards are essential for our families, classrooms, and cottages. The gift cards provide the opportunity for the kids to go to museums, movies, or other activities all throughout the year—especially during school breaks! Gift cards to King Soopers, Wal-Mart, or Target are great for our families to purchase much-needed groceries and/or clothing for their kids! Due date is December 15, 2017.

Santa Shop

Provide gift items for the Santa Shop. This is a place where the kids at Tennyson go shopping for their families. This allows them to choose gifts to give to their parents, siblings, grandparents or caregivers for the holidays. A variety of items is needed for adults and kids. These items need to be donated by December 1.

Don't have time to shop? We'll shop for you!
